I wish I would have seen this sooner. Sorry about your loss Josie. I'm sorry that your grandmother had a hard life and I'm sorry she had to have a JW infomersal for a funeral. I hope you are doing ok. I'm wonder what her name was.

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

I'm sorry you are having to go through this with these idiots. Seven days to appeal their decision. Where do these morons come up with this crap. Certainly not from anything Christ taught. These guys are dangerously stupid. I wish there was something that could be done to wake them up so that they would realize what a bunch of melicious buttheads they are. But that isn't going to happen so all you can do is try to find ways to deal with the damage they cause. You are well like on this forum and if we could change things for you we would but we can't so all we can do is offer you our support in dealing with the situation.

He seems like an alright guy but I think he is romaticizing the past. In the past sometimes a woman would stay in an abusive relationship because she had no work experience or education and most of the jobs went to men. I think that started to change when women went to work during WWII.
He said women not having the vote was because it was looked upon as one vote per family. If that were the case then why wasn't it one vote per family, male or female? If he thinks that is a good idea then I guess when he does get married he would have no problem with a system where his wife was the one using the one vote. I guess they could alternate each election.
As for women being able to choose to work that was particularly true of women in the 50's and 60's. I don't think it was like that in the past. In the past women worked very hard they just didn't go to a job. Washing clothes wasn't a matter of throwing them in the washer and dryer. It took the better part of a day to do. If they wanted bread they baked it. Cooking meals was from scratch. What I remember about stay home women in the 60's was they had a lot of time on their hands and a lot of them didn't use it very productively.
I was raised in a family where my mother could work when she wanted to. I we needed something she'd go to work. It was extra money. It worked out good for most families for a while. I think what happened was that companies selling products charge what the market will bare. And that also goes for the housing market so prices started to rise because families had more money to spend. Now it takes two incomes to buy the same things you used to be able to by with one income. That probably was one of the bad side effects of feminism.

I'm not sure what time is but it is effected by physical things such a speed and gravity. Time can be bent by gravity. It slows down with speed and is slowed by gravity. I'm sure you have heard that people age slower in space. That is why even if they ever figure out how to send people out into space for long periods of time they will have to prepare them mentally for the fact that when they return everyone they knew will have already died of old age by the time they return. I think traveling forward in time is possible but I don't know if traveling back in time is.

Does anyone know what happens to full-time JW's(DO's, CO's, Missionaries, Special pioneers, etc) when they reach old age?
by african GB Member ini am just wondering since these people never work a secular job.
is there some sort of an arrangement from the society to care for them?
presuming they don't even have children of their own to look after them when they are old..

I also remember Christendom being mocked from the podium for having retirement plans for the clergy. That was years ago. I'm sure there some that had a chuckle over that that aren't laughing now.

I wouldn't say that it is a human constuct but is something that is part of our physical universe. I believe that God is outside of time and I have no idea how God views things although I'm sure it is totally different thatn how we do. As people we tend to see things through our limited human perspective and and attach great importance to the very short time we spend here on earth. I think that is why it is easy for people to believe that they are the ones living in the last generation. I don't thing we live long enough to really understand much about anything that is going on and besides that we don't have very good view from where we sit on this small planet yet many of us speak with certainty as if we had some special knowledge on the subject.

Nope BrotherDan. I've been out about 30 years and still hate the cult. Not the people but the cult. Although some of the people aren't very likeable either. The creeps at the top if not evil are pretty close to it.

I hate it also. Another reason I hate it is the damage it does to families. They make it just about impossible to get out of without breaking up your family.

Not important? I think it is really important. As I write this my wife is attending a funeral for an older JW that I didn't know. On Saturday she is attending another one for another very old JW that I knew. When I met my wife in 1975 this woman was a friend of my wife's mother probably in her 50's. At that time the Witness were sure their deliverance was near. I'm sure that neither of them ever expected to get old and die in a rest home. I had the good sense to get out of the WT around 1980. I feel bad for the people because they wasted their lives waiting for the Watchtower's paradise to come and save them. I can only imagine the unspoken disapointment they must have felt over the years.
I think it is very big deal whenever someone leaves. Happy anniversary!
